Alibaba is upgrading its cloud operating system (OS) compatible with a variety of chip architectures.

Alibaba’s cloud technology department revealed at a conference on Friday that its Apsara operating system will be compatible with processors based on Arm, x86, RISC-V, as well as other architectures.

Intel designed the x86 instruction set architectural family, which is modeled on the Intel 8086 microprocessor and its 8088 derivative.

RISC-V is an industry standard instructions set architecture (ISA) based on the ideas of the reduced instruction set computer (RISC).

The Arm architecture is a collection of RISC (reduced instruction set computing) for computer processor designs.

As per market researcher IDC, Alibaba Cloud is among the strongest businesses for the Chinese e-commerce industry and China’s Largest cloud computing provider.
