HTML Development Timeline

1991 – Sir Tim Berners Lee invented the first version of HTML.

1993 – Released HTML  version 1.0 with the purpose of exchanging web browser readable and accessible information. But the language was not popular due to the fact that most of the developers didn’t use it.

1995 – Released HTML version 2.0 with added features.

1997 – Released HTML version 3.0. English computer specialist Dave Raggett presented a fresh HTML draft, improving new HTML functionalities and providing web developers with more powerful website designing features.

1999 – Released HTML version 4.0. The version is extremely successful and widely used.

2014 – Released HTML version 5.0. The extended HTML 4.01 version published in 2012 used by web developers globally. HTML5 was developed by two different bodies, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG).
